Anyway, question on Cornish about the bare spot on their chest. Does this happen because of very tight feathering? or is it because they grow so wide, and the feather count is the same as any other bird, leaving that spot open, like a too tight shirt?

Yes. That is why they have that bald spot. If you watch them growing, you'll notice that chickens don't have solid feathers all over their bodies. The feathers really grow in "strips" - really noticeable when they are young. The center line of the chest doesn't have any feather follicules and the chest on Cornish are so wide that when grown there still aren't any there.
