Cubalaya Thread For Sharing Pics and Discussing Our Birds

My Welp chicks are now a little over two months old, and as Doc said, they are in the "Ugly" stage. But I thought I would post some pics for those who are interested in seeing what Welp has (as I promised I would do).

Heads look pretty good. Tails are down really nice. That's about all I can tell at this point. Keep us posted, especially size. I would bet the top pictured pullet is a silver.

from my experience with dark bbred i think the middle pullet will turn out real nice color wise.

Interesting Jungle!! How does the size so far compare to the Ideal chicks you raised? I know that was some time ago, and it is early. Looks like you might have a variety there. They were advertized as BBR? And no one knows the source except maybe Privett?? Might have to order some of those to see if I can get a few keepers, even if I just got broodies, that would be nice at this point. I do like silver along with the BBR........stan

These pics were really poor. the color is off. I did not realize that my camera was on the wrong settings. my back is out and I did not feel like going out to retake them, so I just used them.

as far size goes. they range in size but they are all bigger then the Ideal birds at this age. some are quite large.

What will their offspring look like? The roo is Blue Golden Duckwing right?

The cockerel is a blue golden, yes. The offspring from the birds pictured will be:, pullets- blue wheatens, wheatens, silver blue wheatens, silver wheatens. Cockerels-Blue breasted red, black breasted red, blue breasted golden, golden wheaten. A one in 8 chance that any given chick will be any given on of those sex/colors.
