Cubalaya Thread For Sharing Pics and Discussing Our Birds

This is a spangled cubalaya cockerel I will not use for breeding. He has yellow legs, his tail tends to be above horizontal and his head is not to my taste, except his comb is the right shape in the side view. If I didn't have anything better I would use him.

how old is he, his color doesnt seem right either some parts there is more white than there should be but in others there isnt enough and his saddles dont match his hackles

He is a spangled wheaten at 18 weeks old. They are a color in progress.

Got some eggs from Cubalaya hatched under a broody. Looks like 3 are from his eggs, two from mine. One of the red backed chicks was first to hatch, came from an egg marked cuba/thai.

What happens when you cross various colors: white to bb bred, bb red to blue red, etc.? Also can Cubes be used to create sex link crossbreds for laying?

white to bbred depending on they type of white you can get red pyle.
blue red to bbred you will get half and half
not to sure about the sex linked
i knew he was a spangled weaton i have them in bantams, and what i was saying was he had too much white in his lower tail and wing and not enough in the back and saddles
