OK, here goes...This wheaten is not the worst I've had, but she is long in the beak and a little weak in skull shape:

Okay, I see the beak issue, can you help me understand the skull one? What should it look like?

This black pullet has more what I am after, a strong, short beak and her forehead is better:

I am not the expert on here...I guess what I think of in the forehead is a "crow head" has a longer, lower ramp from the eyes out to the nares. What we are after is the forehead sloping more abruptly and thicker under the comb. Guys??

Actually, as I said, I don't really want to breed but you guys make it REALLY hard. I mean if I have some girls that would promote the breed, then it would be a shame for me not to right?

PS please don't think I take this lightly, my personality is to simply joke about everything, keeps me sane. I think I am one of the only ones that uses smilies on this thread

I understand there is a LOT of work in improving a breed or even keeping it from going off the deep end and that is no laughing matter.

I'm thinking a desirable skull/face is round, like the eye is in the center of concentric circles expressed in the eye ridges

Except for her blue/slate legs I consider this pullet almost perfect.

JAT, those are fine birds indeed. Cubalaya hens can potentially be as dramatically elegant as the cocks.
