Cubalaya Thread For Sharing Pics and Discussing Our Birds

I know some are against it but I'm still interested in the German birds. I love seeing all the birds on the Facebook page and dream of what a single generation would add to our whites! Even though I got a good 150 whites out this year, I will not be hatching over 100 eggs this year, I'm thinking of more like 50. Traveling 1700 miles for school next fall will be too much to add 100 or more whites. My blue reds made a good step forward, as did the whites and blacks. BBReds don't seem YET to have made any progress, but there are still about 25 cockerels still growing out. Recent counts show that there are about 150 total Cubalayas here, plus about 60 Australorps, and many bantams... Some of which will be sold this spring.

Zach,
I know you'll do great with your education. You have done and continue to do great work with the Cubes. I hope you'll have time while at school to drop in and talk chickens every now and again.

Why would people have a problem with you showing an interest in German birds?
You misunderstood what Zach said.
He didn't say anyone had a problem with him showing interest in importing the German birds.

He said some don't care about the importation themselves; has nothing to do with others (Zach in this case) making the importation.

Sorry to digress, we just got a few fun snaps of the birds celebrating my son's 2nd deer. The wild type hen is from cubalaya. I think the bounty from this fall has the birds in fine feather.

A few bits hang up here and there.

Ah I get you now!

I will definitely be around to talk chicken, I am after all going to be studying Poultry Science. I'll have to pay you a visit since I'll be half way there anyways :D

Hatched out my first batch this past Sunday too JAT. I hatched 17 Cubes and 4 Shamos. Not sure how many Cubes I'll hatch this year. I really don't want to do as many as last year, but I'm already getting lots of calls. I hate to turn folks away that want Cubes, but it certainly looks like I will.

I'm thinking this year to hatch out 70-75 Cubes, but no more than that. To many Asils and Games to hatch as well.... not to mention the ducks and geese.
