I would elaborate on this "aggression" - it isn't real knockdown stuff. Most of the time my 2 hens just run across the yard with the dominant one chasing, only occasionally facing off. I see NO damage, it just makes them fun to watch at play. There has been no feather eating or anything, and with everyone in moult right now I am sure it is tempting.

I bought a trio from cubalaya in July. The rooster has been a total gentleman with no aggression toward anyone, human or chicken. My layer flock are quite happy with him. The cubas are not "flighty", but are very active and agile. They will eat from your hand but are definitely NOT fluffy lap pillows. You won't keep them in a run with no top - they fly VERY well. They certainly figured out our plum tree and helped themselves without waiting for fruit to fall. One hen is nearly silent, the other quite chatty. Early in this thread someone suggested they are a noisy breed but I have not seen that at all. The rooster crows less often than my previous one, and seems to like to sleep in until the sun actually rises. They are laying like champs right now (my others have shut down for moult) and the eggs are larger than expected, a solid medium with an occasional large from one hen.

i have only seen one man-aggressive cubalaya cock. they are not game until death but they will fight another cock. i find it challenging to introduce hens to existing flocks without serious henpecking but others say they are easy to introduce.

In my sixth year now i Have had several manfighters. The hens tend to be aggresive towards other females.... wth only a trio you must understand i talk in numbers. I raise 300-400+ each year and have tested many things. The females are all different due to differences in personality. Like humans, you cant say humans are chatty, because there are different types of people. Not all of them can be racialized into a type of attitude. They are all unique... same with the chickens. There are definately noisey birds, but quiet ones as well. My birds are a mix mash of lines with the attitude of one line being more dominant over the others. This aggression can be seen in some females as well as males. But my birds are different than yours, cubalayas, gallo's, saladins, Mr. Brush, or even Jim Zooks. Our birds can all act in different ways because we breed from different birds, lines, and we breed in different ways. No birds are all the same within a breed, there are differences between individuals.

Males can be aggressive with other males, especially if not raised together. My females get along well with each other, but are aggressive with non-Cuba females, and non-Cuba males, too. My whites are bad feather pickers, but, not the other colors? No idea why that is. The cubalayas are always very high ranking birds in a mixed flock of typical fluffy butt chickens. These are not real gamefowl, but, they are not orpingtons or silkies, either. I have had some males who would never back down or submit, and others were quick to run away. Some have been noisy, some have been quiet. My whites are noisier than the others.
Cubakid has a good overall point, it's hard to generalize. We can tell you that usually they are calm, docile with people, then, you might end up with a manfighter? No guarantees on behavior. They can certainly fly well!
