The white rooster is from a trio I bought from cubalaya last summer, a white pair with a wheaten hen. Very nice birds. The whites are a little small, but the wheaten hen has turned out gorgeous. She weighs as much as the rooster and her tail is very long and full.
The white cockerel was my only rooster, but then he sired a couple gorgeous mutts (RIR x cubalaya) in September. I now have the dilemma of how to split the flock for breeding. I have posted the son, Shaggy, on here in the classifieds. His tail is still growing, and he is getting really big. The only clue to his mixed heritage is his yellow legs. His size is so tempting, but I need more pure cubalayas before messing around with any mixes. I really would prefer to separate the cubalayas, and am hurrying to build a breed pen. I have all the materials but time is the (as usual) problem. The hens have laid all winter and are really pumping them out now.
