Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

I'm a wimp in the dark.
I just had to go see why I was hearing the alarm call at dusk. Nothing there, but Mad came running out when he heard me walk up with his tail straight in the air. He calmed down when he saw it was me. I sat out there for a while with a flashlight and bear spray, just in case, but I didn't see anything. So, not afraid of the dark really, but not comfortable being out there when there might be a predator around. We have some that could take a human down, not sure they would.

I took a look at the fish in my pond today, and most of them appear to be doing okay, I don't think I've lost any fish in the pond over this winter so far, but the goldfish with the tumor appears to be doing worse. I removed a large portion of the tumor back in the summer of 2018, but it has grown back, and the fish doesn't look very healthy overall. :(

I thought about bringing him in and putting him into an empty 40 gallon tank I have, but I worry that the change in temperature would shock him too much, even if I tried to acclimate him to the new tank over a few hours.

We are 10 miles outside of town, Penny Jo, in a rain forest. We have a lot of predators and also a lot of deer.

Wow! You did surgery on a fish? I'm impressed!!!

My neighbor has goldfish in her pond and she is never here. They are never fed, but the pond is a natural pond, so I'm sure water is passing through it, and lots of algae and other plant life is in there. They have been there for years and make it through the winter just fine. It amazes me. I have seen the top of the water frozen and fish swimming under it.
