Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

Good morning, Debby and Andrea!

You two are quite energetic with your plans!!! I need to do some of the same, and I can't figure out which project I want to start with. I have a room in the garage that is just storage for artwork, books, wildlife food, and right now it is sick bay for Queen Bee. We want to turn it into a bonus room, but oh boy, we have a little of this and that in there, and what to do with all of it??? I have about 5 boxes of books I've sorted out for the local library.

I should be working on it while I'm watching over Queen Bee, but instead I just watch over Queen Bee. :lau

Val, does your library take used books for maybe a book sale or something? I used to always donate my used books to a library but the library up here doesn't want them. I hate to throw away books, just seems wrong to me. I've actually considered making a midnight run to the library drop box and just dropping them off anyway.

How is Queen Bee today?

Good job on the masks!

The Amaryliss (sp?) is beautiful! I've only ever grown those in pots in the house, nice to see one outside.

Thanks!

I grew the amaryllis (I used spellcheck because let's be honest, it's hard to spell, lol!) inside a little over a year ago and planted the bulbs out because I figured there was no harm in trying. I actually see a few popping up but this pink one was the first to bloom.

Our local library doesn't take used books but we do have a used book store that will actually give you credit toward more book purchases. I love that place. I'm definitely not going to be going there for a while though with the rampant cooties. I guess I'll finally give in and start using my kindle for sanitary reasons.

Well, I got close to spelling it right...I was too lazy to check spell check :D

I used to live in a town with a used book store. Loved that place! There isn't one around here though. I do have a Kindle but never really got the hang of using it so I've just been re-reading some of my old favorites. There's a project for me to work on...separate my favorites from the ones I don't want to keep. Maybe someone will want them by the time all this craziness is over.

I'm confident someone will! I'm developing quite the little pile of stuff to donate since Good Will and other places aren't taking donations at the moment. lol, I can't imaging I'm the only one. With all the extra free time everyone suddenly has the donation places aren't going to know what to do with it all once this is all over!

Queen Bee is quite chipper and happy this morning. She's ready to go back out with the flock, but this time I just want to keep her in an extra day or two. She fooled me once last week, and we know how they can mask their pain, so I'll be keeping an eye on her.

One thing about sick bay is, I give her a few berries every morning and she loves them. So she might have been chattering about that.

I'm in a small ladies club that raises money for the senior center in town. We are planning on having a garage sale at the center in early July for their benefit. I wonder if we'll be able to follow through with that. We decided not to bring books, because our library does indeed accept them and sell them all summer long. Just not sure how many folks are going to want to buy anything used any time soon. But I can still get organized for it. And with all the rain we're having, it's a perfect time to do it.

Here in Florida they do a box on a pole to put books in. Anyone who wants too goes by and takes a book. The next person coming by may take a book and leave a book. If you are interested I will contact someone to the information for you.

I'm planning on reorganizing my laundry room soon too...I'm also procrastinating. LOL!
We have nice cabinets in the laundry room and I want to switch some things around to keep some of my cleaning supplies in there and not all under my kitchen sink. We're installing a new reverse osmosis filtration system under the the sink and it takes up a lot of space...so the filtration system as well as the new sink and faucet are in my living room. You would think that would be enough of an annoyance to go organize the laundry room. :lau

Instead we got up early and worked on the garden bed for a while. I can't even take much credit, I walked away while my husband was working to look at flower blooms and watch the broody hen running around with her chicks...hahaha

My mother and I have been modifying different mask patterns and we're finally happy enough with some of them to share with others. Still going to keep making changes until we're completely satisfied though.

Thank goodness we were able to find some non woven fabric to sew in it for extra protection. It's the difference between like 5% protection vs 56%. It's double sided, who says you can't be cute during a pandemic? lol, I'm sending this one to a BYC member. ❤

I read that hepa vacuum cleaner bags make it much better, up to 80% or more. I have some ordered.

I'll have to look into it! Do you happen to have the link on it? I have some Kirby vacuum hepa bags that I could use. I'm not sure about breathability. At this point We're doing whatever we can to increase the protective layers, tightly woven quilting cotton fabric and I had to search and search to find the non woven polypropylene fabric was recommended as what is used in medical masks. I don't even know how many masks we'll be able to complete with what we have so if I have to whip out some vacuum bags so be it. lol

I've seen places that do the book boxes and love the idea. Unfortunately there isn't anything like that here. I have wondered if there just aren't a lot of readers in this area.

Last year I took a big box of books to the golf course we work at and I think only 2 books were taken out of it. There was 1 employee that got fired and when we gathered up her personal items, we put them in the book box, so she ended up with all the rest of the books
