Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

Well we saw "Game Night," is started kinda slow -caught my brother napping but later picked up pace and it was fun. A few twists to it we never saw coming. My brother gave it 3 stars out of 4, and I agree. I had enough points at the theatre to get $ 5.00 off the tickets, so that was nice.

Nothing good showed up in the trailers for forthcoming movies, so I guess we'll have to come up with other stuff to do.

Just finished watching the Academy awards. No spoilers, I was happy with the results (except for the best song). Jimmy Kimmel cracked some jokes I found funny (don't ask me what, it's all in one ear and out the other with me).

I saw "I, Tonya" the other day. I enjoyed it, thought it was well done. What a bunch of numpties. I thought for sure that Tonya Harding's mother must be deceased what with the way she was portrayed, but she isn't.... Even if she was that awful, it mustn't be much fun watching Alison Janney be "you".

I would have seen "The Post" (they had $10 tickets for the oscar-nominated movies until 1 March) but it wasn't scheduled. I'll see it on dvd, eventually.

Well at least "The Shape of Water," got Best picture. The actress really deserved an Oscar, it's much harder to play a mute than a raging lunatic in 3 Billboards. I know sour grapes.

I think Frances McDormand deserved it, there was a lot going on with her character (all of the characters, really, which is what makes it such a good movie), but Sally deserved it too. All of the nominees were good, especially the supporting actress/actor categories. I could have picked any of them, they were all so good....
Did you watch it? I had no idea that Eva Marie Saint was that old.

With a strong need to get out of the house, we saw "Death Wish" starring Bruce Willis. He actually did a god job filling his role and character. I really enjoyed it . Surprised myself. We'll both go a 3 on this one. A little more gore than I generally like and a truly sadistic torture scene might freak you, deedee. Movie should have been titled 'Vengeance".

Is this the same movie as the Charles Bronson one, or is it a different story?
Have you heard much about "Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool"? I thought it looked ok from the trailer.

Not sure about the Charles Bronson movie. This is about a doctor whose wife is killed and daughter put into a coma by burglars. He becomes a vigilante and lives a double life until -----------------

Saw trailers on "Film Stars", but right now Princess has no interest.

I don't think I've seen the Charles Bronson one, I think the story is something similar, avenging wife's attack, chasing down bad guys type thing. Maybe it's a remake?
That Film Stars one isn't one to rush out to the cinema for, but I might watch it on DVD. There doesn't seem to be much in the "coming soon" that looks that good.
