Cutting the feed cost of chickens

I let mine free range all day and feed them in the morning I also dig up dirt so they can eat grubs and worms. They also eat a lot of grass,

I wish I could let mine free range all day! They love it! They’re hanging out area is only about 25‘ x 75‘ or so. My backyard is about a 1/4 of an acre, but I have it real orderly. I made a few different growing areas for them and I take down little sections of the fence and let them work on like areas every week and rotate my growing.

I mostly will use them for laying, breeding, and showing.

Looks like you will have enough for all the different purposes you plan to use them for!

Unfortunately its easier to cut back on birds then cutting back on feeding costs.
If you're just trying to play it smart and make sure you're not wasting money that's one thing but if its a case of trying to save $$$ because your at your limit, close to it or beyond then that can turn into cutting to many corners that end up stacking problems on problems.

If you have chickens with unusual and beautiful feathers and roosters with their beautiful feathers, you can sell the feathers too. Crafters, jewelry makers and people that make fishing lures would be interested in buying them.
