Cytopoint for Dogs

Mushrooms can never hurt, they've been known for thousands of years to help with immunity and overall health. My hubby has skin cancer and years ago started taking a mushroom blend, he hasn't had another spot appear on his skin since. Of course we can't be 100% sure this is why, but why risk it, he keeps taking them! :D
That is so neat! I've read about mushrooms for cancer prevention and immune boosting, and figured I should be feeding them. Its definitely something I want to try. So neat that you have first hand experience, I'm excited for them to arrive for the dogs.

My mom is sure she is still alive and cancer free at 87 due to all the mushrooms she eats.

I am going to order some of the mushrooms too, it can only do our dogs good! :)

That is so cool! I take them to when I can remember, it can do us all good, and at the very least boost immune systems. :D

Its seems like cancer is such a common thing in dogs these days. They can use all the prevention they can get! :)

Yes the cancer rate is rising at an alarming rate in dogs and cats, they say their food is the number one culprit. Most likely all the processing. What do you feed your dogs? I would like to feed a raw diet but it's very expensive. I cooked for our last dog but the protein types are so limited, if they become allergic to it, there aren't a lot of choices on proteins.

Yes! Its 1000% the kibble. I've read so much about how terrible kibble is for dogs, and acutally, I can thank BYC for that. Since I switched to raw about a year ago, my dogs have had no ear infections, more energy, great skin and coat, no smell, great breath, and Comets teeth have improved leaps and bounds. I haven't even had to brush them! I'm loving the results. The price, not so much, but its worth it. Fun fact, dogs fed raw live about 3 more years than dogs fed kibble.

I've fed a raw diet for about a year now. I use recipes from DogsNaturally.com, the same website that the Bovine Colostrum link came from. They're pricey, I think we spend about 400$ a month on our two labs. Comet is 70lbs, and ember is 50. 😳
There's also BJ's raw pet food which I really like. Switched to that for a little bit to give myself a break from making it. Then the prices went up and I switched back.
I switch between turkey, and beef for my dogs to give them red meat and poultry.

There's a DNM FB group, and they have a lot of info on raw recipes as well. I'm sure they have some ideas for cheeper raw diets. I've been meaning to join and ask. If you can get in contact with local butchers, or beef farmers you've got a good deal. I have contacts with my local beef farmers and poultry farmers for organs, and I usually get organs for free or cheep. Asian markets are good for cheeper meat I've heard, and I try to grow a lot of kale and spinach for them in the garden. Some recipes even include dandelion greens, which is awesome. Those aren't hard to come by. ;)
Even with that, a freeze dried raw is good as well, another thing to look into.

I will stop by the website and check out the recipes! I have been checking out a few Freeze Dried and Airdried pre-made foods on line. I should get my boy switched over and off kibble. Thanks for all this info!!! :hugs

You're welcome. I do a lot of research on it, natural nutrition is very fascinating to me. :) I'm glad I could help! Here is a good article about freeze dried, dehydrated, and air dried raw dog foods. Which is better, pros and cons, etc.

I started him on Freeze-Dried food last week! I purchased Primal Rabbit from Chewy, quite expensive however it is a test to see how it goes. OMG...he loves it, there is NO going back to 100% kibble! :D I added it slowly to his food, and he is doing really well in it. I can already tell he is more satisfied after eating and isn't grazing around the kitchen in between meals looking for crumbs. Thanks so much for your help! :hugs

Oh and I also ordered some homeopathic "itch spray" from homeoanimal.com It should arrive any day now, I am hoping it helps with his itch. The Cytopoint injection must still be working as he is not scratching yet, and thankfully he has fully recovered!

Thats so great! I'm so glad I could help! Isn't it amazing how much improvement you see when you switch? Its really neat!
Another supplier that I really like is Bj's raw pet food. You can order in bulk raw 5 gallon buckets which is great. I believe more cost affective than ordering the smaller Primal bags, though I've never purchased food from them since I would need to buy a ton for my two dogs. I switched between that and homemade raw, it comes to about $400 a week for two Labrador retrievers, 50 and 70 lbs. Insanely expensive, but if they live 3 years longer, and I don't have to spend so much at the vet because of ear infections, its worth it. :) Maybe something to look into for your pup.

Oh good! I hope that works for him, crossing my fingers you can find a solution.

Another thing to consider, sometimes yeast infection/leaky gut symptoms look like allergies. Maybe read this article, it also talks about yeast and links that, and it explains symptoms of leaky gut in dogs. Maybe that could be causing a problem rather than, or along with allergies? It would make sense why some of the allergy treatments weren't working. I think that my boy has some gut issues, before venturing down the whole raw trek I thought he had allergies. Read about leaky gut and now thinking that might be the issue.

Yeah even keeping my little 14 pound Toby on the Primal would cost an arm and a leg! I would imagine feeding your crew, you might have to mortgage the house! :D I am researching all the raw, freeze dried and dehydrated foods and definitely want to get away from kibble. And Toby gets so excited to eat now, I love it! Thanks for that link to BJs food, I will definitely check it out!

I thought about leaking gut syndrome too, but his poop is so perfect? He never has digestive issues what so ever so I sort of ruled it out but that doesn't mean he doesn't have it. Thanks for that link, I will definitely check it out too!
