Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

I provide drinking water I'm shallow rubber bowls. That way it'd easy to dump and clean daily. I provide small kiddie pools for swimming and those get dumped every couple days plus I have a creek that I let all the ducks onto at different times of the weeks.

I'm sorry to just jump on a thread but I just put 2 dozen call eggs in the incubator now I'm nervous I've hatched a few batches of chicks no real problems but from what I'm seeing calls are considered difficult?? Was hoping someone with some experience could throw me a few pointers to help these babies out!!!

oh, don't be sorry, you're in great hands here. Not mine since I don't have ducks but try and find Lacrystol, Amykins, 18angovem and AmandaVirginia for guidance.

Call ducks are a bit difficult to hatch, I'm afraid. They're nothing at all like chickens. I used to raise silkies, one of the most delicate chicken breeds out there, and call ducks make hatching silkies look like Easy Mode! But you can do it! If a clod like me can have a successful hatch, anyone can. :p Lacrystol is the call duck hatching guru, and she's always happy to give advice. What color of call ducks are they, do you know? Oh, I can't wait to see what comes out, call ducks are my absolute favorite!

Oh, and I almost forgot...

You can go on lacrystols website lwbarnhouse.com and she has two ways to hatch call ducks depending on incubator. These little babies may need help so be prepared when hatch day comes around!

I house my 2 call hens with my 1 call drake in a secure coop at night. This morning when I let them out my drake had his left eye poked out! I'm sure nothing was able to get in the coop. Would a hen do that to avoid breeding? He has been rather aggressive lately. Should I have been housing them separately at night? This is my first season with breeders. I usually just purchase and hatch eggs.
