Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Hehe welp that's the great thing about life, no two are the same and we all got our own experiences! Also I just melted at the "shoulder chicken" bit. <3

Also, guess what? I just caught the first glimpse of this lil' baby's duck tongue! It yawned in the shell and I saw its teeny tiny widdle tongue! It's so CUTE!

The shoulder chicken thing works best with bantams. Full size birds like Puffers get carried once they are too big for a shoulder, but they don't seem to mind either way. Puffers got her name for 2 reasons: 1)She was a late hatcher & the rest of her brood had been sold the night before she hatched so she spent the first 4 weeks of her life in a box in my daughter's room with a bath poof as a companion, and 2) She has the puffiest cheeks you have ever seen, even as a baby the puffs were huge.

My daughter always says, "Puffers isn't a chicken, she's a people...just ask her!" That hen definitely thinks she is a person...lol
I actually did make a choice. I sold off all of my ducks & only have 1 pair of geese left. The geese are looking for a home too.
Puffers is a cute name. I think chickens are cool and I have traveled all over the world and anytime I see one I take pictures of them. And they are just domestic birds like all of yours. My avatar is a South African pet rooster that I met when I was there a few years ago. Whatever the shape of our particular birds, they are our loves and offer us so much pleasure.

Yep, we love chick & turkey tv around here. Ducklings are ador
adorable when they get the zoomies & take off at top speed just to run in circles. Even more adorable when they do it in swim mode in the sink or bathtub.

It was hilarious because he was scared that they were running at him to attack him and he didn't know if he should freeze or turn around and run the other way. The look on his face was priceless. Even after I told him that they were just looking for treats he was slow to move past them.

Another cute story... I made him an egg sandwich once, using fresh chicken egg of course. He asked "does it taste like a normal egg?" LOL. I didn't know there were different types of chicken eggs

He ate it, said it tasted fine but has never eaten another one. He still buys his eggs at the store. He's just not interested In eating an egg that he saw where it came from. So weird to me lol.
That makes me laugh about the eggs and your dad. I have to confess I am of the same opinion regarding store bought eggs versus freshly laid ones. It's a psychological thing. I am used to eggs coming from the fridge cold rather than under a hen's rump all warm. Illogical, I know.

And could one outrun 50 chickens coming at them?

I love that term, zoomies. It is so cute and I can picture it so well. Puffers needs to have her cheeks kissed. I love the sight of that on a bird. That must have been such a treat for your daughter to have Puffers sleep in her room with her for 4 weeks.

Zoomies, hehe! I hope this new duckling is a zoomie, Wobbles has always sucked at swimming.

Puffers gets tons of kisses on a regular basis, and treats, and spoiled. My son did the same with Scraps, his little smooth showgirl...but sadly, we lots her to the cold this winter.

My best land zoomie ducklings were runners & khakis. Best water zoomie ducklings are calls, mallards & rouens. Pekins are pretty zoomie the first few weeks too. Muscovies tend to not get the zoomies so much.
