Daily Duck Egg Report for 2015

I got my 4th egg in a row today but my duck isn't looking good. She looks like the egg laying is taking a huge toll on her..her feathers look all ruffled and darker each day, she was off white but now she's very beige!!! I'm waiting on an order of layer mash for her which arrives mid next week. Her current food is quite good- she gets scratch grain and duck grower.....so what's going on?.?? Anyone else had this happen?? Why is my duck wilting away??

Could the drake be giving her a rough time that is if you have a drake. You can give her some poultry vitamins in her water and Oyster shell in a separate bowel along side her feed.

The drake doesn't touch her at all, I'm not even sure how she's making eggs because when he gets on top of her (1ce a day) he just sits on her like on a bar stool :/ other than that he follows her like a puppy. She's the pushy one!
Do feed mills carry poultry vitamins? Or would that be a vet?

Feed stores do. You don't even have to have a drake for your duck to lay eggs. They'll just lay with or with out one. Only difference is with a drake you'll have fertile eggs and can have ducklings without a drake non fertile and no ducklings. Well you'll have fertile eggs once the drake figures out what mating is all about. lol

At this time of year when temps are below freezing some of my ducks look rough around the edges and off colored mainly because they can't have bathing water very often. So they aren't doing alot of preening and keeping their feathers in tip top shape.

Haha well she's still a baby, shes 5 months, so I think the drake got lucky 1ce! The only reason they are laying eggs is because I keep them in the garage for now where it's warm. Temperatures here in Canada are hitting -35 tonight! Yikes!

Goodness give that duck a sitz bath lol

LOL She's OK, crazy laying is in her genes...

@KARy408 started a thread based on 4 of Snows sisters: Dorothy, Sophia, Rose and Blanche :) 4Pekins also from Metzer with the same hatch day as Snow. :D

Snow pumped these babies out most of last summer, then dropped back to 110g average eggs over the fall. Like I said before... I think she's a little goose (Dwarf Embden?) :p

Edit: more like end of last summer / early fall then started slacking (if 110g is slacking) beginning of winter.

That's very cold, your a good person to keep your ducks in where it's not so cold.

One of the laying ducks that I'm sitting (not mine) started laying the other day! I'm surprised since they usually don't lay this time of year.
aww your duck sitting, how sweet I chicken sat once not at my house though thank goodness that was alot of poop.

I'm still looking for more duck eggs since I got the first one last week nothing. But mating has begun in a fury.
