Daily Duck Egg Report for 2015

It's warming up here too! it hit 30 today!!! It felt like a heat wave! I went out to check on the birds in shorts, a T-shirt, and a pair of flip flops!!! Still had to climb over the snow drift that was higher than the porch railing to get into the yard to check the sheds for eggs though....
I am not ready for t-shirt and shorts and flip flops yet even at 40. but it was nice enough not to have to wear a heavy jacket gloves and a hat. And cannot imagine climbing snow mounds in flip flops those poor piggies. lol

I'm hoping to convert my husband to a duck egg believer like the rest of the house - he asked for a breakfast sandwich to take to work tomorrow... So he is getting a duck egg, bacon and cheese on an english muffin! (I'm totally making some for myself and my daughter while I'm at it - that's just too much tastiness for me to just make one!

I bet he won't notice at all. You should do it a few times before saying anything. We all had duck eggs yesterday and the whole family liked them.

My daughter loves them - we are really looking forward to doing some baking soon! We want to do egg bread to get the whole effect! Hopefully since the weather is improving my girls will start laying again - we are almost out of our duck eggs!!!

My dogs love duck eggs. same her jtn no one wants duck eggs. I think they think they are eating a duckling lol

I think you hit the nail on the head. People are either open to it completely and maybe ask if they taste the same. (Then they are return customers - OK, I give them to friends and neighbors for free.) Or they look at me like I asked if they wanted to bite the head off a cute little duckling. (Sorrow, horror and disgust in one look).

I think they taste very similar but a little more robust, but I don't know how much of that is free range fresh and how much of that is duck because I haven't eaten any laid the same day (or same week for that matter) chicken eggs by themselves. (When I was at my sister's last fall, she made a dish that used fresh chicken eggs in - probably within a week of laying - and it was very good, but there was enough "dish" that I couldn't really evaluate the eggs themselves.) When I eat chicken eggs out (not on purpose, they come with the pancakes and bacon and sausage), they taste watered down to me.

I think if we had more rice patties in the USA, we would all be eating runner eggs and would think chicken eggs were weird

He thought they were duck eggs because they have such a beautiful orange color to the yolks .

Isn't that funny... How appalled can you get if you have to ask

. If someone served me goat milk instead of cow milk... I would KNOW. (I like goat milk BTW, but I wouldn't have to ask

) Now before everyone starts shipping me crates of monkey milk, llama milk, or mouse milk... I have NO idea what they taste like...
