Daily Duck Egg Report

Wahoo! Finally..... found one smallish egg in the duck house this morning. I've been so impatient for them to get started again. This is from Pebbles, the one who hurt her leg getting off the deck last Fall. She is the smaller of my two ducks, and the least interested in the drake. I brought it in but then took it back out to where she laid it to encourage them to nest in their house. I just had 14 fir trees cut down and the place is filled with logs, rounds and huge piles of branches. The girls have been finding their way into that mess where I can't even walk yet, let alone look for a nest. Bendedict, the drake, has been going back under some bushes where they tried to hide eggs last year. Hope Beatrice adds to the nest tomorrow. I have missed those eggs so much.
Congrats!!

I went in to check on my broody and to take any eggs Some one might have laid for her

Having any ganders is why your seeing trouble, man those boys can be a hand ful when breeding season comes around. I only have one gander and he is in full ornery mood right now. Thank goodness my dominant drake keeps him in control when it comes to the ducks.

It will all be over come May and everyone will be back to normal.

glad to hear your duck is back with the flock.

My male muscovy seems like he wags his tail and he makes this snorting noise and the hair on his head will go up and down when I come in the pen. I thought he was just happy to see me, but today he stood right in my way. He did move when i reached down to pet him, but now i wonder if he's just giving me a warning b4 i go near his lady or if he really is happy to see me.

As long as he isn't acting aggressive towards you he was probably just happy to see you, but remember this is mating season so drakes can get a bit over protective.
