Daisy or Duke?

    DaisyDuke2.jpg DaisyDuke3.jpg DaisyDuke.jpg We have two mallard ducklings. I am pretty certain that they are both different sexes but would like to get some opinions (in fact in photos I'm even more certain). I think Daisy is Duke and Duke is Daisy! But that's fine! I think our Duke may be the one showing on the top of the photos and on the left in the last? ?

    I'm no mallard expert, but I think the one with the Orange bill is the drake.

    That would make my daughter happy because she wanted her's to be the Drake and that's hers! Thank you!

    X2 (which would be the bottom duck, and the one on the right in the pictures)

    Not sure it works this way with all duck breeds, but I used to tell by looking at the tail feathers; on a drake the tips of some curl up where 'hens' are straight the whole length.

    it does work with all mallard type breeds, however, the ducks have to be older ;)

    I've watched for that but not seen it so far and honestly my eye sight must be really cruddy because in person (not the camera) they look very similar...which surprised me when I had the photos on my screen!
