So this just came to mind as well, a possible predator control idea: Trap raccoon, cull raccoon, feed raccoon to chickens...

Would my master plan be too ironic to work???

My concern would be rabid wild critters. Would that be dangerous for your birds. What about around you rother animals, expecially dogs and cats? Just wondering.

There are rescue charities here that solely rescue commercial hens from slaughter....battery and barn hens are slaughtered before moult at 18months. The charity go in, pay the farmer a nominal fee for release and usually have waiting lists for rehoming

my profile picture on here is one of my hens with a before and after shot....before is 2 weeks ago- her comb, wattles and face are pale, the after shot is just yesterday amazing the difference being allowed to behave like a proper hen does to them x

I would totally recommend it, so rewarding.....it's seems like everything they see, do and taste is like a massive new adventure lol! My Mum saw them for the first time today and we tried them with tomatoes, cucumber and dried mealworm.....it was like feeding time at the zoo haha and they are getting the hang of how to break up broccoli, it keeps them occupied for ages and is full of calcium so great for their eggs too

Yes! Except its not Dandelions its clovers! I let my light brahma run in the yard and she pretty much ate every clover there! But I will try to feed her dandilions.

My young ones got dandelion with roots and dirt for the first time today. I think they get enough grit with the dirt. Maybe an egg yolk tomorrow

Mine do love the dandelions and also if I pull clover and stick in run the get some and run off with it. I also have a strawberry patch and my free range hens love when I throw them some over the garden fence.

lol picked some nice dandelion leaves today after "tropical storm andrea" they grew big, and they LOVED em, I even saw one of my chickens licking her beak
