MMM , looks good even id eat out of the suet cage lol hahah, I pick dandelions every day for the girls and rtabbits, I even eat them my self In salads (im Italian) we make soup out the leaves too instead of escarole and beans we use the dandelion greens

Totally agree with learning before earning (the right to keep an animal) I have wanted chickens for as long as i can remember but haven't been able to until now. Even then I only decided I was getting them a few days beforehand ( rescued ex commercials and had 5 days to decide before slaughter) but I have done extensive reading, made sure I knew what I was taking on and was well aware of the fact that being ex commercial hens mine might have more issues than usual! The only thing I have had to wait on is a larger pen being built, as I had to quickly buy a prebuilt coop, but they are happy for now in their rabbit run...they will have a much bigger space next week and I won't have to carry them from coop ( which has a tiny built in run) to the rabbit run after that! I am still a novice, learning daily but have learned a lot in the 2 weeks I have had them....i have even examined their worms down a microscope lol! Dedication! .....ps mine have just had half a tub of maggots, think this is by far their favourite snack

Lol! When I asked the man in the Fishing shop for half a pint of maggots he thought he was being funny when he said ' is that your dinner sorted for tonight then' , thought I was joking when I told him 'no, but my hens' dinner is!'....

When we were just starting with chickens, we visited with a local farmer who did an internship at Polyface Farm, and now has his own thriving business. He told us that he gave his flock of chickens a fresh, road-killed deer carcass and they picked it clean in two days!

When I go outside and have any sort of food in my hand/bucket I need to duck and cover for they run/fly at me like airplanes....

Chickens hurt at 1000mph.....
