Hey well i candled the eggs to pick out the bad ones but i seen this is all the ones i knew were alive. Did they all die or is it just normal incubation results on day 8?

im really nervous i killed them please tell me im wrong.

Sounds like a good place for them for the time being, Karen, with their newly discovered wandering ways.

One of the girls is giving Rusty a hear attack now. She doesn't stay by his side and wonders the yard. Flies up in the tree by the barn. She was even out of the fence this evening. She flew back in , but he was not happy.

Rusty is still behaving his self and even flew up on my arm to get in feed bucket. It shocked him as much as me and he flew off just as fast. There was no aggression in him at all when he did it. Now after I have bragged on him he may try to peck my eyes out tomorrow.

Ha, with Rusty behaving and Aubrey eating out of my hand, the Apolocalypse must be upon us!

Candle through the top of the egg and look for veins around the edge of the air cell. If you see veins they are good. If not and you see a blood ring around the center of the egg they have died. The dark area is the growing chick. But seeing veins is the most important thing to tell you the chick is still alive.

Hope this helps

I love building things. Gonna make an A frame deal sort of like yours, JJ, using these old crawlspace doors we removed. I think I posted them here once. Finally, winter is fading and maybe, among the thousand other projects, we can do it.

This porcelain baby will be 3 weeks old Tuesday. Still not really pink in the comb much but seems wider than it was at first. Sorry about my nails-my hands have been really beat up recently and I need some TLC in that department. Lost all my misc nail stuff when we had the house first and it takes ages to get it all back again. Who has time for girly stuff anyway with all the chicken chores and projects I have to do? Ack! Guess I'll have homesteaders' hands.
