JJ has come to the dark side...

How large are the Brahma bantam eggs compared to the D'Anver eggs, if they're laying? The breeder who got me into the Delawares had some show quality Buff Brahma bantams, really gorgeous birds.
They are bigger than a d'Anver about the size of a medium LF egg. That's what we got them for was eating. Birds take up less space, eat less, can take the heat and winter well. Too many frostbit combs on the large fowl single combs.

That big, huh? Sounds good. I have one LF Buff Brahma hen, hatchery girl, who is going on 7 years old now. She is a great old girl. How is their personality in the males and females? Are the males as laid back as the LF Brahma males seem to be most of the time?

JJ, Rogaine?? Bahahahaha!

My bantam buff Brahmas out lay my large fowl and the roosters are real sweet

Of course they tend to be broody. I just let one hatch out some bantam Polish chicks because I could not break her from being broody. They are beautiful birds, especially if they come from good, show winning stock

The John Neff line is super nice!

She is lovely, chickee. I adore my Caroline. She is the Queen around here. Doesn't matter where she goes, she takes over, lol. That's why I can't put her in the main flock again nor can I merge her old hens' group with the four Orp hens left when Suede died last Sept. She wouldn't back down and someone would die, probably her, from a heart attack during the big fight. The head hens in both of those groups are old, too, and pretty tough as well. She'll be 7 in January, having outlived her hatchery genetics, bless her heart. She really looks her age now, too. Amazing how a hen can have a wrinkled face and gray "hair" like a human almost.
