Oh, cool! I was hoping you didn't mean clears! Sorry, my head is so fuzzy. I had a family dinner today and didn't get back until after dark from Acworth. If they'd been clear, I'd be wondering if those boys were chasing each other so much that they were falling down on the job, lol. If you don't get a good hatch, I'll be happy to give you a few more since they're laying so well now.

If they keep going I will have plenty. I'm not certain the ones I didn't see veins in aren't growing. I will check them again next weekend. I will keep you updated.

I did finally see that Aimee and Carly, two of the original hens, are laying now, so you could possibly have one or two in there from those hens. Aimee throws mostly pullets; in fact, most, if not all, of the pullets who laid those eggs are her daughters. Aimee is the best broody hen you can imagine. She's raised three broods, if I remember correctly. Carly has raised two sets of chicks. Mina raised one batch. Maura went broody a couple of months ago, but I didn't let her sit that first time with winter coming on. Penny isn't laying, but she raised babies, too. This is a fairly broody bunch and they make great mothers.

ETA: Karen, though only two eggs were marked with Maura's name, there are probably several more of hers in there, but I only knew for sure that those two are hers. I have too many new layers to be 100% sure of who laid what anymore unless I catch them in the act.

I have 11 wiggling D'anver and 1 Silkie. Both marked Maura are in the 11. I pulled several with blood rings and 1 clear. Just wanted to hive you a update.

Cool! I have so many eggs now that you are welcome to have more if you need them. No one so far has claimed the two sets I have up on the classifieds and as of this morning, there are about 43 in there, but if no one takes them, I'll just put them in the fridge. Just realized that's a full turner.

These have two more weeks to cook, but thanks I mat get more later. This is my first winter hatch. Before whe I have hstched in the summer I did the dry method except at lock down add then I added a tsp of water. I'm trying to decide if I need to add some earlier to these.

Hey, Aubrey, I noticed that at least one of the pullets has short legs like Lucy. And she's out of Aimee, I'm positive. No feathered legs on that one, though. Interesting how some are coming out with those short legs.

They aren't supposed to be Nubby but not long either. Wing should about cover all but the foot.
Short leg seems to be pretty dominate in a lot of breeds so if its in em it can pop up. Good deal too on the lack of stubbles. That's a hard dominate trait to weed out.

You got any pics of the short leg ones? Would like to see em to see just how short they are...

Aimee had 8 chicks out of this last group and only 3 of those had feathered legs or stubs, whereas I had been expecting them all to have them, being hers.

I don't have any pictures of the pullet with shorter legs, sorry, at least not anything showing her legs so you can see them well. I did post one of Lucy way back-remember, you asked if I'd part with my Wrong Way Lucy for your Ohiki project and I was stingy and said not on your life, lol.. She and the pullet definitely have shorter legs than the others. It's pretty cute, really. They all have gorgeous beards.
