d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Yes I just looked at it and as it dries I can see the milli coloring coming in. Pretty sure the other is Porcelain. It has a yellow head and blue body from what I can tell now. The other has a brown and yellow head and grey body. I don't really know... I will get pictures of them when they are dry and fluffy... Then it will be hard to leave these two alone until the others hatch. I know they have will be fine until Thursday but its hard not to get them.

Aubrey, this question is mainly for you since I got my birds from you, except the porcelain pair. I have one pullet that started laying (don't know which one yet) and wondered what possible colors I will get breeding from the colors of birds I have. Other people's input would be appreciated too

Love that goofy porcelain hen. I have your Dun Cuckoos twin I didn't realize than was Dun though.

What's the best way to fix turned under toes? How many days do I have to fix them?
Chick shoes made with medical tape (type that doesn't pull the skin) top and bottom of foot, or blue painters tape works well. You need to get the shoes on right away.

This chick hatched with curled toes (had to help it hatch) and I put the chick shoes on right away. Two days of using the tape and the toes were straight.

That silly Porcelain hen is my little "Star" I saved her when she hatched as a "Star Gazer- Thiamine deficiency" so she is a favorite.

It is a little easier to see the Dun undertones in this picture taken when she was younger. A regular cuckoo is black and silver.

Many times, it just takes the chick being out of the egg for a couple of days. They are all curled up in there, remember, and some have a harder time getting their sea legs. But tape on top and bottom making the toes spread out and stay flat for a day or so usually will do it. If the egg is smaller than average and/or the chick is larger than optimal for the egg, I see some toes that take some encouragement to straighten out.

Chickee-- I think your dun cuckoo hen might be a Crele, Dun Cuckoo would not have a salmon colored breast. The pick I am looking at is maybe the dun barred quail, I can maybe see that.

Here are some of mine.
