d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

When I'd fill the feeder, Aubrey would go back and forth at the edge of the feeder like he was impatient, Rusty would be trying to find an opening to get at me and Spike would be watching Rusty to see if he was going to flog me so Spike could go get him. Then, Spike would follow me to the door like a puppy to see if I would put some scratch in my hand and let him fly up to get it without interference from the others. He's a smart one, that Spike.

If Randy cant get him to settle down when the babies grow up I will move him into the LF Flock so he can free range. I'm sure I will get at least one roo out of them. My other D'anver is in the barn by his choice. I had him and his brother in their own coop, but would let them out to free range and they started roosting in the barn so I just let them. I may try that with Rusty since you said he was good for you in the LF Flock.

Well, he was never actually IN the LF flock, only roamed with his mother, sister and Indy out in the yard. He was good back then, yes, but they didn't associate with the main flock. When Maretta cut them loose, they went into the bantam coop with other youngsters who were being raised by broodies in that coop. He did free range around here; mama taught him how to do that for sure, but he hasn't been out since he was quite young. He was very sweet back then. Here is Rusty as a younger guy:

It is official....Cynthia and I are certifiable. I just placed a web video call to her rooster on behalf of my daughter. Cheyenne and Isaac have this love affair and she is leaving home next week for school and wanted to see Ike before she leaves sooooo the rooster and the girl met up on Skype. If I'm lyin, I'm dying.

Boy I have missed a lot this evening...

I didn't get so spend much time with Rusty and the Girls. They are going good. I got two eggs and did not get pecked.

The Hooligans are all well too.

I cane home to two large dogs running around the out side if my fence. I ran them off. Called around trying to find their owners because I hate the idea of killing someone's pets. Then before I could get all the farm chores I had a goat of two I'm keeping for a friend to keep them from getting breed. Went into labor... uuuuugh. I got it in the kennel in the garage. Had to then take off to both kids ballgames. I called the owner and she came when she got off work to a premature delivery. Mama goat is fine so far. Baby was way to early. Which in long run was a good thing because Mama is to small to be breed. Keep your fingers crossed there will be no more complications.

...my LF flock hasmy Quail D'anver roo who lives with them full time Bad the 3 bits from the bachelor coop who free ranges with them. The Day' D'anver is the mist aggressive of the lot and all he foes is chase the cats away from their food for the hens. I won't let them be mean to him. Thanks for the pictures.
