d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

The hen dosent look too bad
She could do well in a local show etc.

The roosters neck is a little dark but other than that he looks good
He would also do well in a local show
Lol thank you! We don't have any shows around here except for the fall fairs so I'm not too worried

The lady that i got them from does bring hers to the fairs and has some ribbons but I just want cute bug eaters lol
Though I may try to sell some eggs from them

Ooh, are there easy to tell disqualifications for this breed? One of the chicks is definitely a rooster, so we have to find a new home for him soon, but it'd be great if he could be used for 4-H or something. :)
Hi there Here is the main disqualifications. I took a picture from an old bantam book I have

A weasel got into my coop mid summer... Luckily I still have some.

First photo is one hen (her name is pumpkin and she stayed up on a beam and so was not killed by the weasel, smart little girl)

second photo a pullet (the laced one), , and last one a very nice cockerel (I think that is lavender? But in the photo is looks like a very dilute cream or ?????)

So cute! I don't think that last one is lavender though

But I think pumpkin is adorable, I know how you feel about predators I had a bear rip my coop apart a couple times this spring and it got a lot of my birds, the only survivors were the ones sleeping in my barn, they now refuse to go in the coop and so live with my horse in the barn

Oh good grief!!! Bears! :barnie

They are SO SUPER STRONG!!

I have had them twice. The first time I caught him as he was entering my coop and I chased him off before he got anything.

The second time he tore up a bit of one side of the coop, his paw got stuck in the string of Christmas lights and I guess that upset him and he went away. :idunno I didn't see him attack, just the aftermath. I have no idea how I got so lucky.. It got zero that second time too.

And yeah...what color is that cockerel? He would NOT sit still for a photo... so this is super fuzzy, but you can see the color

Super light buff??? He is a mix of colors, pure d'anver, but a color mix.
