Wow, early delivery. I have also read on this forum about people getting Sunday deliveries. Thank God the PO allows people to pick up on their days off

Cannot wait to see pics of them. How many did you order and did you get them sexed? I heard MPC will sex all their birds and have heard that they are quite accurate also

I also ordered some more Ameraucanas eggs since I need some new blood and want to add a couple of new roosters to my hens. They should arrive around the same time as your eggs. Just when I'm done, here we go again.....lol

I almost decided to go with Bantam Ameraucanas but chose the D'Anvers and really am glad I did, I really like them and they are a true Bantam.

So far, I'm loving mine. They're two weeks old, the friendliest and least skittish of the whole bunch other than the Barred Rocks. I'm sort of hoping that the porcelains are a pair, but I'll take what I can get.

Aubrey, when did you say the males' combs start pinkening up? I'll search the thread and see if anyone said. I can't tell on the rose combed birds this small which combs appear extra wide or raised, probably my bad eyesight, but dang, they're small!

ETA:

I was just in the coop and I see one of the Mille Fleur's combs already turning pink at 2 weeks old. Hope there will be enough girls for me to keep two cockerels! How many would you say I need so they aren't overmated, Aubrey? My Silver Phoenix girl will be living with them, and maybe my Ameraucana/Sumatra girl, too, since she's quite small and has vision issues.

ETA: Another question (sorry, here I go again, LOL): If I'm choosing between two Mille Fleur cockerels, what do I look for, generally? What is a huge fault or a huge plus? I'm sure I'll have the same question about the porcelains, but I'll probably keep both of those, no matter what sex they are.

See the cute pics I got today? One of the Mille Fleurs is really tiny--see her/him in the 4th picture roosting near its larger sibling.

Cyntia, I was going to say, usually at 2-4 weeks if you have 2 side by side, you can get an educated guess at them, but no promises, usually the cockerels will start to get a wider gap for a comb, while the pullets will stay fairly tiny.
as for mates. I run 2-4 males per 4-10 hens with no problems. They arent one of those sex crazy breeds like a lot of chickens so over mating really isnt a major issue with them. Now I wouldnt do 2 hens and 3-4 males by no means, LOL

As for the millies and porcelains, or any mottled for that matter. They only get better with age, honestly you will have no idea what quality they will be for 2 years, as the mottleing just gets better and better with the first few molts.

Usually first year birds will be partially mottled, but in the end a perfect one will have a white V tip on each and every feather from the beak to the tail, even the saddles and converts should in the end be tipped.
Nice full beard and muffs with little to no wattle showing threw are pluses, darker the legs the better. You dont want off colored legs, big wattles, little muffs of beard. Nice up right pose, tail fairly erect, comb should be nice and even flowing to a good sharp point in the back, not concaved, nice a full with tiny spikes on it.

Thats pretty much it. Keep some pics coming, I'll be glad to tell you this fall which ones look most promising, but it will be the following fall before you can truely see their fullest potential.

Oh, meant to add.
I am taking orders for chick assortments too, 4 classes.

millies, porcelains, whites, cuckoo, black mottled

unheard of colors

silver quail, dun quail, blue cuckoo, dun cuckoo, lavender cuckoo, buff columbians, isabela buff columbians, creles, barred quail, blue mottled, lavender mottled, dun mottled, ginger reds, and a few others

any of the above assortments (a mix from top to bottom)

They are hens choice, but will be glad to lean toward the colors you would prefer on them when possible.
