d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Yup, she does have a respectable beard, doesn't she? I have been trying to get pics of my BRs in that pen, but can't because of Penny. She insists that if I am in that pen, she must be on my arm, lap, shoulder, whatever she can reach, so when I try to use the camera, I have to dodge and weave to avoid Penny, LOL. Caught pics of Rusty and Aubrey today, in spite of her, though.

Aubrey! Here are recent pics of the Silver Quails & Lavender Cuckoo. Lavender Cuckoo just got better from what ever it was. The Silver Quail Rooster from pic #3 & #4 is the same.

they're shaping up pretty nice Do. The silver pullet especially is looking like she's going to be one heck of a bird.
Glad the lav cuckoo got over whatever was wrong with it.

I was reading the ABA, and they only say "quail" and never "silver quail".... So is the Silver Quail variety recognized as of now?

Quote:
no
they say quail and blue quail actually in the ABA
The APA only does quail

though I hear silvers are being considered, just need enough breeders that have them to come forward. Takes 5 breeders i think breeding them to get one in, right now, that'd be a pretty big stretch on the silver quail

Aubrey, here are a couple pics of the roo I told you about who is same color as your Danver roo. Sorry to clutter up the page, but wanted your opinion on his color please. I only received part of your email and is why I'm asking again.

Here he is showing off

He's standing behind the black cockerel here...

Finally, this is him when he was younger and didnt have all the mahogany color in yet. The other roo is a Silver. Any 'for sure' idea or color label I can put on him?

I have 5 Quail D'Anver chicks that are between 12 and 16 days old. They are very friendly and love to jump up on my arm when I put it in the brooder. These are the first chicks that I have ever had and I have no idea what sex they are. If I can get them to hold still, I will post pictures. Here are some earlier pictures that I took, but they have almost quadrupled in size!!

My largest one, Gazpacho. This one was the first to show any brown color in the wings. Body was more gray than the other chicks.:

Some more Quail D'Anver chick pics. Gazpacho has the most coloring. As you can see, they all want to jump up in my hand. Hard to take a decent picture with one hand!!
