d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Yeah they launch from there at her Royal Henliness because she is not the right woman. My little love wants me to come cuddle him. *snicker*

How is my little Rufus? Are you being mean to him Cynthia, you know he will tell me as I gave him my cell number when I was leaving. Muahahahahaha

You are so bad, LOL.

No, they do not launch at me; they are very sweet on the roosts except for the Evil Rusty, who jumps up and turns this way and that, like some demented wind-up toy on steroids, if you dare to try to rub his chest whilst he is roosting. Rufus just eats it up. You have turned him into a Cuddle-Monster!

Muahahahahaha my little love has been told that cuddles and chest rubs do not in any way take away from his studliness or head honcho position. As for that 1 lb menace flick his butt off the roost a couple of times and he will get the idea to behave himself and then feed Rufus a pancake right in front of him and do not let the toerag have any. Or pick him up and drop him and each time he attacks drop from from a little bit higher.

. Just take him to the kitchen sink and give him a bubblebath and stop waiting. LOL. Take pics of him in it too so we can laugh and point at him for recording and playing it back to him!

Cynthia honey, if my coop looked anything like yours, my chickens would probably expect vibrating recliners!!

I was thinking about attaching them to the rafters which would be somewhere around 3 1/2 to 4 feet high, there is room enough up there to install at least 3 about 2 feet apart. And that would also leave the floor space clear unless you think I should make them some little ladders up to them.
My little coop is 4 X6 with the next boxes mounted on the back wall as not to take up any floor space. And the walls are approximately 4 foot tall. It's what you would call short and sweet.

I will post pics of it as soon as I have enough posts to let me put pictures and other goodies in.
Thanks for all the help. And Aubrey,

I'm open to any and all suggestions.

So no one ever told me when I got D'anvers they were a bit mental...hysterical drama making loud mouths. My parrot is in love. The girls are in the room with the parrot and she screams her happy head off. Well the other night the girls broke free of their quarentine cage and raised holy heck....flapping around screaming like banshees. Well the parrot was screaming and then I hear a combo of the egg song/ freedom screams...nope the Sanderson sisters ( from hocus pocus) as we've named them are just happily chattering away with the parrot.

Love it!! You guys are all great!!

Now get to answering that other question. Should I make little ladders for them up to the roosts? They will be about 3 1/2 to 4 foot off the floor.

And Cynthia I would love to visit your chick village someday, it's looks simply splendid!!

Ladders? Heck, no, LauraLee! They fly like nobody's business. That is why my pen is covered. They get great lift-off! The only reason I'd give them a ladder is if there wasn't enough room across from the roost to fly down without them hitting the wall. Their coop is 8' wide and they fly down from 5' with no trouble. My Large Fowl Silver Phoenix who lives with them used to hit the window, but she learned to do better before she killed herself.

This is their pen and Aimee used to love to fly on top of that 5' chain link gate till we bent the fencing that hangs over it inward. Silly little hen. They've even flown as high as the top of that cover on occasion, testing their escape routes, of which, there are none. That huge window is directly across from the roost wall.

Mrsfoote, I haven't seen that behavior, but then, mine are not laying yet, so maybe that comes with the eggs, LOL. Mine are 27 weeks, if I remember right. The girls have tiny little voices and they do like to talk when they're being held.

Great Cynthia! Thanks so much, I will go with my initial plan then and just watch the little darlins, and if they start bouncing off the walls then I will either put in a ladder or install some sort of launching pad.

Aubrey is being quiet today, hope he is off counting my eggs.

Can't wait till next week, that's when he is sending me a set of little egg babies for the incubator. Boy will you all get to read my mouth just a flying then. This will be just too exciting.

not quite, Aubrey still has to go to work every day LOL.

But no like they said, these buggers fly like the wind. Some of my spare parts that are a llowed to roam the yard roost 40 foot up in the oak trees, so dont think a ladder is needed HAHA.

And, yep, plan to get you up some of whatever I can get this weekend if all goes well and get you some babies on the way. May have to do some subbing color wise, but I'll let you know what's what and get aproval first. This cold snap did a number on them, been upper 30's low 40"s here at night now.

Ms. Foote,

that was too good, and yep they can be a mess at times with some of the stuff they do.

Plan to send a box next week for my trio of goldnecks. I'm as excited or more so that Laura Lee about getting them. I've had them going as a project pen for 2 years now, but being dominare white based, I had to outcross so it's been a pain getting them back. These will help me a ton in finishing them out and have 2 blood lines going then. Will definately let yall know when I get them
