Good one! JJ, those are gorgeous blue silvers! Oh, my.

I know, right? Should be absolutely adorable! I hope at least some are sired by the porcelains, but either way, they'll be pretty babies. Shadow is almost 4 years old, a hatchery lav Cochin with above average foot feathering and a diva attitude. She was purchased as a companion for a single hatchling and our only bantam in the big girl flock. Even the BR rooster wouldn't mate her, but she followed him around like a lovesick puppy. Now, she has pint sized men of her own, though for about six months, she was quite unhappy about it, LOL. It will be nice to have a daughter of hers since we really love that little princess.

JJ, did you expect lavender? Can't wait for your great pics, as always.

Mine are in the bator with their little non-skid "belts" on. I have 50 eggs in there, 5 belonging to Shadow, 4 of which are riding piggyback on some Orp and EEs. I just realized one of these D'Anver eggs was collected way back on Jan. 31-that must have been when I was collecting Aimee's and no one else was laying, so I didn't rotate it out. No matter, will just hope it hatches!

I have a lavender hen in my in with my porcelain roo and split millie, so I was expecting a lavander chick (split to mottled ). Thats a bunch of eggs, I wouldn't have any where to put that many chicks till it warmed up alot. Just how big is your gravy skillet?

Oh, don't let Ladyhawk hear say that, JJ! She'll be on my case in a heartbeat, LOL.

I'll have them in a brooder inside for a couple of weeks, tops, then they'll go to the soon-to-be-vacated 8x8 Barred Rock coop (after a major cleanout) with two heat lamps. I always put my chicks out at 2-3 weeks, even in winter.

Actually, I don't expect near 50 to hatch. I'm betting on several to be clears, especially in the Orp coop. Big old Suede is 5 years old and not an aggressive breeder so fertility is in and out in that pen. Then, some that candle fine at 10 days will drop out of the running by hatch time. I bet even though none of these are shipped eggs that I will end up with maybe 30 chicks. Want to take bets?
