d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Thanks for all the input, I'll keep an eye out for the grinders.
Nana, it may be a courting dance, but then he wants to flog next. Maybe he's trying to say "be my hen or I'll flog you".

Anyway it's been a daily battle, till the other roos take over for my and run him around the house. He even tried to get me through the fence today. I just laugh at him, he's just too cute.

With boys ya just never know. I had 10 lbs of Son of Suede biting my shins and ankles today and when I would reach for him he would jump away then ease up next to me almost touching me and bite again...this went on for about 10 mins until I squatted down to his level....then he walked over and pushed his chest against my knee, scooted as close as he could get and just looked at me waiting...So I said "Good Morning Hector" and he was in heaven...he just wanted me to talk to him. Guess he and my hubby have one thing in common...they both like my deep sultry/raspy voice....Lancelot does too...all nearly 14 lbs of him sits in my lap for petting, swinging on the porch swing and good conversation. So who knows...boys are weird gal. *snicker*

LauraLee I am in BFE (I must give you a general location because JJ watches everything and I cannot have him infiltrate my boundaries with those shaven creatures before the Hairy Legged Horde is fully trained)....I am north of Lexington and Georgetown. About 2.5 hours north of you straight up I-75 :)

haha I heard that, JJ is a sly one. I go through there every summer going to my Aunt's in Fairfax, Ohio. May run by sometime.

could well be, I keep forgeting they are just babies. They look older than that. You're right shouldnt be possible. I have never actually recorded or made note of what age they start getting spots. Check on that if you would. I know from last year with your chick pics then, you should have then about down to the week. Curious to see myself now.

How could that be? Aren't they just not getting their spots yet? They're only just about to turn 5 weeks old now. Gosh, I'd have to go back and see when their parents started getting their white tips.

Here is Penny at 7 weeks old. She looks about like the tiniest one I think is a pullet in this group. Is there some subtle difference I'm missing?

Found it! Here is a picture, Carly I believe, at around 8 1/2 weeks old, so I'd guess that's when they start getting the white tips.

They'll be a year old tomorrow, April 6!

I am not sure how good mine are going to turn out but, they are really mottled when they first feather out. Then they loose all they're mottle and look like buff columbian and slowly get they're mottling back. But these are the first one I have raised.
