d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Hey Aubrey, glad your back. I got off lucky with the coccidia only lost 3 out of 59 in that group. It's just the ones I did loose I don't have any back up for. Don't that just burn you up. All three were pullets the lavander silver quail, my one self blue pullet, and one of the white ones out of the silver quail.

Which of these would you use to make bb reds, they both had the same parents bb red x mille but I have several of each color.

Well, both of my son's d'anver hens are broody now. Was checking on them last night and have 1 chick hatched so far. Definitely a Quail chick. No chipmunk stripes on this one.

red4x4, how old are those chicks? The top pic looks alot like our chipmunk striped one is looking now. I'll try to get a new picture tonight.

Now time for a small rant....I am absolutely sick of irresponsible idiot human dog owners. Someone is missing a beautiful female rottweiller now because it decided to stroll through my barn and take a threatening position and snarl at me. Unfortunately, the same thing would have happened even if it had not snarled at me...my birds were free ranging.
Never seen this one before and I hated having to shoot it but I just will not put up with someone's dog threatening me on my property. Bill and I followed a good blood trail off into the woods but could not find her before dark, Bill found her about an hour ago.
Bold of her...She would have been shot here as well.

Posting a few pictures.. I know I have at least one Mille fleur cockerel...cond't know if there are any pullets yet...still getting their feathering.
Have a trio of the Porcelain.
Think the lone black chick is a cockerel so LilGuy has been checking out the skirts in the next pen.

The d'Anvers are in a floor pen now with the OEGB.
We are getting a lot of little cockerels sporting combs....

I think the black is a roo....

The Porcelain trio and a mix of ?s

Don't know what this d'Anvers is next to the black

Cockerel or pullet?

Wow, Aubrey, that's a long life for a chicken!

Well, the Little Man is now being called Ace. He's very calm and sweet at his age (going on 12 weeks, so pre-hormonal still). Aubrey, your namesake, is a royal PITA now, LOL. You even dare to bring a camera into his coop and he starts stalking. What a goof!

Here is Ace--JJ called it! His broody mama, Molly, was plucking his beard. After all, Phoenix chicks don't have beards, right? That is Mina's underside next to him in the first picture.
