Dark Egg Breeds Thread

Fabulous... Love the background!!! Nice blue coppers...You are starting to get a name for yourself... you may have to go by Blue instead of Pink Thanks for the pic.

The eggs are so worth it I am just loving that my pullets are starting to lay both my Black Coppers and my French Cuckoos and my hatchery girls have always been good layers even if the eggs are not dark I can still tell them apart from my brown egg layers. I must have a FCM starting to lay and my other "black" BCM has started...

the one @ 10:00 is from my French Cuckoos

the 3 tan spotted ones are my hatchery girls the dark egg layer took the day off

@ 6:00 the other "black" BCM

@ 4:00 new huge egg who? none of the FCMs I hatched came from spotted eggs and the comb on the BCM hen sure doesn't look like she's ready but she's been in the laying box just as much as the others and her hatch had spotted eggs who knows they always wait for me to leave. I'll be separating them after a bit to see if any of the FCM have recessive white as I hatched a beautiful white pullet and she looks a week or more off from laying lucky I have a white rock roo they should make a nice cross for laying and eating and I should be able to tell the sex on them if they are barred.....

Lotsa~ Those are very pretty eggs......I love seeing all the spotted ones. One of my splash gals lays the coolest spotted egg from time to time. Huge spots not small little dots, I love them. They add tons of character to the egg carton.

Hello All. I've been reading most of these posts so I figured I'd jump right in. Here are a few pictures of my birds. Only 2 of them lay right now. The others in a month or so. I have a broody hen sitting as I type. Problem is, the other one lays her eggs on top of the broody hen! Yes, sits right on top of her. This will be an interesting hatch.

The eggs in the carton are the first batch of eggs we got from our girls.

The older girls (only 1 pictured) are FBCM. The others are Blue and Black Marans. I can't wait till they start laying. They are just over 3 months I think. I could be wrong. I mess up ages all the time.

That last hen is hideous... You need to mail her to me immediatly!!! ha ha...

I cannot get good pictures of their parents as my $39 camera is the pits with the bright lighting we've been having lately....Soon I hope that we'll have a little less sunshine and I can post some better photos!

Have a blessed day. Nancy
