System feed.

Purina Layena Oyster Strong laying pellets is the only brand of feed for my girls! They polish off a 50 LB. bag in only a week! It's their absolute favorite! Thanks Purina!

My girls really like it. I have to have two feeders for seven hens because they'll empty a feeder in a day. Even I like the smell of it.

My girls don't like this feed. They scratch it out of their feed pans and have slowed from 9 to 11 eggs a day to 5 or 6 eggs a day. The eggs have a chalky appearance as opposed to the usual pretty glossy look. I have finished one large bag for my 17 hens (14 laying) and have switched back to Nutrena.

I have 10 hens and two feeders. I put Layena Pellets in one feeder, and the Crumbles in the other. It seems like some like the Crumbles, others the Pellets, so I spoil them with a choice of each. Even though they are free range, and come and go as they please, I find they eat Purina in the morning, after egg-laying, then again at night. They seem to enjoy the feed.
Usually I get 6 to 7 eggs from my girls. Today I got 9!!!

Usually, my girls scramble out of the coop to their treat boxes and scratch grains when their coop is first opened in the mornings. Now, they run to their Purina Layena Omega-3!

My chickens are..well..chickens and never thought they were very picky. .
But when I bought the first bag of Layena, I still had about a feeder full of Dumor left in a bag...so I filled 2 feeders, 1 with the Dumor and one with the Layena.. at first I thought maybe they were just eating the new stuff because it was new and something different. . But after refilling the Layena feeder 3 times and seeing that the one with Dumor was still full, I just dumped the other in the goats pan..
Within 3 or 4 days of starting the Purina, I had girls that I didn't think would ever lay again laying every day.. shell quality is looking better and I have 2 hens that I got at a swap still in quarantine that were the most pathetic looking things you've ever seen. I took pics of then and their eggs on day 1 and have been taking another picture every 5 days just to see if it makes a physical difference.. their tails are looking fuller, eyes are brighter and eggs are even more uniformly shaped(don't know if any of those are directly related to the feed or just better care in general). But I'll keep up with my own experiment and post pictures when I'm done.
All of my birds have huge runs with grass, I lay out logs that I flip for the bugs and critters, meal worms every day, TheMissingLink supplement 3days a month.. but there's definitely something about the Purina Layena that they prefer over my old brand. And even without a coupon, they're the same price, so it's a deal that can't be beat ♡♡
