I just now transferred five eggs from the Hovabator to our homemade bator to hatch. I just looked in that awesome picture window DH put in that bator and one of the Blue Orps is just shaking that egg, LOL. It's rocking big-time. She wants OUT! That leaves eight still in the Hova that are due on the 28th.

Right on!!! I love it when they move. Out of the three Blue Orp eggs you sent me two have developed. How many blue orp eggs do you have to hatch?

No, I have two Blue Orps, two Ameraucanas and another one of Lexie's (Barred Rock) close to hatch now. Here they are in the bator-love that window! The only thing is that either the double plexi window or the house light or something washes out and changes the color tones, so the Ameraucanas aren't as blue in the pic as they really are. It was that middle fat brown egg that was rocking today when I put them in there. Christina, I sent you three pure Blue Orps, right? Then the Blue Orp/Brahma crosses, too. I have eggs going out left and right and my brain is trying to remember screen names, real names and who got what, LOL. Good thing I write it all down.

Speckedhen, what do you use to keep the humidity up? From the pic, that looks like the rubber type shelf liner you have in there. I hatched some game bird eggs before and needed a wet sponge to lay in there. I was intending to do the same again but wanted to line the tray first. Suggestions?

You sent me three but one didn't make it. I haven't candled all the egg's but all the blue orp/brahmas are developing I did look at. One more week this is pure torcher. I cant wait to see your hatch, only three more days. At least your hatch will tide me off for a few days LOL.

Here is my bator's inner workings so you can see the red containers that hang up on the right. A sponge sits in each one and there is tubing into that container coming through the side of the bator. I have NO trouble keeping humidity in this wooden bator. There's also a low flat plastic tray that microwave dinners come in with a big yellow sponge in it that sits under the red trays.

Christina, do you recall if you looked at any of the Lt. Brahmas as opposed to the Buffs? Adam had no Lts hatch and I know there were circumstances in his hatch, but I want to see one of Miranda's eggs hatch as well. I've never hatched my own from the Blue Orp pen.
