Day 18 Lockdown Questions

OK, the first couple have hatched but the humidity is upwards above 80%. Should I leave the humidity like that or is there something I should do? I have 25 total in the incubator so there are TONS left to hatch. I don't want to drown them.

Also, the chicks that have hatched are stumbling all over the eggs that haven't and are rolling them around and knocking them together. I'm sure there is nothing I can do about it but should I be worried about losing those chicks that haven't hatched yet? Thanks for your help!!

Are there little vent plugs on the incubator that you could take off? The humidity should be around 55%-65%.

Yes my fiance removed them and got the humidity back down to 55%. I'm at work so trying to relay it back to him. Thank you!

How did the hatch go? Do you have any pics?

I keep my humidity at 65%, after the first external pip happens. Anywhere from 55-65% is fine. The 2 links in my signature have a lot of very good information for incubating and hatching :)

not to worry about the chicks walking on the other eggs, they will be fine!

So far it's going pretty well! Here's a pic of the fuzzy babies:

Yep, 21 actually! I broke a cardinal rule: I HAD to take them out of the incubator while there were un-hatched eggs in there. It was sooooo over-crowded. They didn't have any room to move at all (no joke). Luckily they were all dry and about 48 hours old. I have 8 left in the incubator (3 have been questionable the entire time). Not sure what they'll do. I'm happy with the group I have though!

may not remember but i was first post, told you i do it all the time .lol

Yes and THANK YOU!!!!!

Here's another question: I have one that's zipped this morning but hasn't done anything since then. I can see it breathing (its feathers are poking through the cracked shell.) Should I leave it or assist it?

The rest haven't even pipped (externally) so if this guy finally hatches then I'll candle the remaining and see what's going on.
