Day 21 and not a blinking peep! UPDATE - PICS!!!

Still NOTHING!!! How long should I give it? This is my first hatch attempt. Should I open up the incubator to take a closer look?

NOOOOOO!!!! Don't open the bator!!!! That would be a really BAD thing to do.

From lockdown till the end of the hatch you shouldn't open the bator AT ALL. If you do the humidity levels will drop and the membrane inside the egg could dry out and trap the chick inside the egg. I know it's difficult but honestly you absolutely HAVE TO just sit on your hands and wait it out.

It's okay to tap the bator and cheep loudly at the eggs from outside the door though. LOL!

P.S. I have two pips now. Movement at last! Late on in day 22...

They are White Dorkings. I have 7 in there. I did candle before lockdown, and I discarded 2. I think the ones that I left in there are OK- they basically were very dark and I couldn't see much when I candled. Like I said, though, I'm all new at this and I really didn't know what I was looking at.

Yup, by day 18 you don't really see much apart from a big dark blob filling most of the egg.

Dorkings have five toes, don't they? I love the more unusual breeds. The ones I'm incubating are supposed to be Marsh Daisies, but proper ones are so rare that I actually doubt these ones are pure MDs. Probably some kind of mix...
