Day 27 No Progress Under Broody Call

That's comforting! Thank you! Do you ever relax about the process of leaving your broody to it?! I feel like a father in a birthing room!
Yes...I never interfere and my Hens do fantastic without me. Of course the first few times I wanted to help but I didn't and everything turned out. Best wishes and keep waiting..

I could have sworn that 2 of my girls started sitting at least a week apart, but babies started popping out 2 days from each other. Now I have one left on eggs, and I have no idea what stage hers are at. She nested behind my baby chicken coop, tough to reach the eggs, and even when she gets off the nest, she's a moody broody!

I do understand the hope of getting babies from a particular parent. I lost a hen to a predator and immediately put her last eggs in the incubator. 7 hatched, but none like her. I hope you get some nice babies from your old drake. :fl

I like to wait till my ducks leaves the nest then candle it's very cool to watch development of the eggs. And none of my girls mind me peeking but I usually wait till they have gone out to eat and bathe.
That's what I've been doing but as the due date came along I've shut her in so the ducklings are safe if/when they arrive! Feeling a bit sorry for her! She came out and stretched her legs briefly today as I topped her food and water up.

God this one is a shouty broody!! I'm very impressed at her determination though I don't think she will give up on them.

Glad you got to keep a little piece of your sweet hen alive. That's exactly it. You know how small and fragile they are! I'll be incredibly sad when he goes. He saw me through a break-up and a new house and my own children... But he came to me 7 years ago as a 2 hour old baby unwanted passed to me from an acquaintance from a stranger and he really let me bond and love something just when I needed it. He imprinted so hard on me too, I've always felt like I've owed him a mate and some offspring. He's a sweet, bitey old boy.
