I have been incubating mallard duck eggs for 29 day's so far, I started on march 12th. I candled the eggs and did not see any movement or any shadows within the air sack. This is my first time hatching eggs, They were progressing normally with veins and movement before. I am a bit worried that they are alive but stuck. When should I step in and try to help? Any help would be appreciated! :)

Hi!

A couple questions to start. What temperature has your incubator been, and is it still air or forced air? And what humidity did you use for the first 25 days?

If there are still no pips, you can open the incubator and candle the eggs again to check for internal pips, but unless they internally pip, there's really not much you can for them until then.

Thanks for replying! My incubator is a still air one. The temp has been 98 the past 3 days and the humidity around 73. For the first 25 day's I had the temp at 100-99 and humidity around 50. I have never seen an internal pip before, is it just a crack that you can see when you candle?

I would candle them to look for movement if you don’t see any external pip

I don't see any movement, Here are some pictures I took.

That first picture is an internal pip :)

Your temperature has been low - in a still air it should be 101.5 - so they're hatching late. Keep them in for now and wait and see.

I had no idea! I'll raise the temperature immediately :) Thank you so much
