de-worming chickens with goat safeguard(fenbendazole)

Thank you TerriHaute and Casportpony. Since Fenbendozole is okay to use for layers, then the Safeguard .5% Fenbendazole would be okay to use for a days ration if I can get the hens to eat it. Do you agree? And do you agree for no withdrawal period for using the eggs?

If this is okay, then I will do this for my hens that are approaching 2 years old. Thank you in advance for your reply.

You can use anything thing with fenbedazole, but it will be hard to get enough of the .5% stuff into them for it to do any good.

To individually dose my hens what I did was to make some oatmeal and put only about 2 Tablespoons of it on individual plates (disposable of course) with the meds on top. I fed it individually to each hen waiting until she ate it all before letting her out and catching the next one.
It works with mine and may work for others. I had to dose 20 hens so it was a chore to catch them each. I wrote down who I had dosed so I could keep track and not overdose one and miss another.

How many mg of fenbendazole are in two tablespoons?

Right. There's no telling if they have eaten an amount that will be effective.
I did the math before and it's just not a cost effective way to worm them. One is better off buying Valbazen, worming once orally, then ten days later. Boom, done, close to 100% of worms gone!

I have Safeguard for goats. I used 2 Tablespoons of oatmeal with 1/2 cc of safeguard on top. I used oatmeal because it is sticky and they LOVE it. The two tablespoons of oatmeal was just enough to get their attention and not so much they could not finish it all.

1/2 cc Safeguard for goats (50 mg) will not treat capillary worms. It will treat roundworms and *might* treat cecal worms

How many mg of fenbendazole do you say are in 2 ounces of .5% Safeguard pellet dewormer?

I have already given this to my chickens after I had removed their feed from overnight until 10:00 A.M. the next day. So they were off feed for about 15 hours and they ate the Safeguard very well at 10:00 A.M.
