I have 3 rescued, male button quail that are about 2months old- when I went to go check in on them today, I found 2 of the 3 dead with sunken eyes and fluffed feathers. They had all been alive and well Wednesday with plenty of food and water. The one that is still alive is very weak with shriveled feet and yellowish skin (the eyes aren't sunken in) he won't eat or drink by himself but accepts the honey water I'm giving through a syringe... after he drinks, he holds his head up and gasps a little then settles down. The droppings in the hutch were all perfectly normal, but he just pooped again and it looks like this: (see image)

Any ideas what may be wrong/ have killed them? I want to ensure my other birds will be alright

@azygous @Eggcessive, I don’t know how much they kniw about qualms but they are very smart, there’s a lot of people who can help you here but I think they’ll know more. Good luck and prayers for your last one!

This could be Clostridium perfringens or coccidiosis. This last bird may not make it if this is C.perfringens as it's an especially deadly bacteria. I would get an antibiotic into the little guy ASAP.

Thank you. Thinking it might be Coccidiosis or Coccidia as well... gave him some Albon but he's still sitting with his head craned back

Where are you located?
What exactly were you feeding them?
Do they happen to run out of food?

Can you scrounge up an antibiotic? Whatever this is, it's likely bacterial to kill so quickly. Anything will do. Just get it into this little one ASAp unless Albon contains an antibiotic.

Albon is an antibiotic/antidiarrhea. I gave him 0.01cc and some Honey water which he drank like crazy. He's more alert now and walking about a bit... he even ate some powdered feed. And no, they never run out of feed. The head craneing seems to have stopped along with the gasping... but still not sure if he'll make it the night. If it is bacterial, is there anything I should do to protect my other birds? I have 2 more roos, chicks, cockatiels and an elderly dove...
