If I stepped on my child and killed it I'm sure I wouldn't be allowed to parent ever again!! ... Although if it was an accident child was killed I guess the parent could have another chance...

People are held to a different moral code. This was either an accident or the chick was deemed too weak to keep the flock safe

Yes true. It is a chicken. I forget sometimes they aren't kids I need to look after, they are animals I care about.

Not necessarily since there is no law stating a parent who kills their child cannot have another even if it was intentional. I would say it is really not that uncommon, or at not as uncommon as you would think. So, surely a hen who did it accidently deserves another chance.

I heard loud cheeeping so I just ran up to the coop and hen was sitting away from 2 chicks, they couldn't find her so I picked them up and put them with hen... My 8 yr old hen Chickaletta is the best mumma, never had a problem with her at all. She knows exactly what to do and how to do it. No dead chicks on her watch. She's had lots of experience I guess, but maybe some hens probably have got the better mothering instinct?
