So Sad but usually theres a reason my ladies throw out or stop looking after an egg or chick...I figure they know best. Natural selection can be tough

No. She hached 7 standard eggs like a boss last year. She actually won the broodies and their babies photo contest.

The baby could have gotten trodden, or kicked out of the nest accidentally. Or it could have been that the broody knew it wouldn't survive and pushed it out. These things happen.
