Songster
I ordered 36 Buff Orpington female chicks and 3 males. I spent time having everything ready and the brooder clean and set up for them.
When the box was opened 18 were dead. The box had a divider in the middle and one side were happy and healthy and the other side was a pile of dead chicks. The hatchery will make up the loss and when it was reported to the post office they could have cared less. The excuse was “must have been too hot” and when they were told new chicks need 100 degree warmth the reply was, “it’s still been too hot”.
So now to go in search of Buffy chicks.
I don’t blame the hatchery, the post office most likely forced cool air in the one side of the box and the chicks died. I despise the USPS for lots of other reasons too.
