If there transporting it I have to assume they have the ac on and the dead chicks were getting cold air blown on them. Since you mentioned the employee's comment was, it was just too hot.

I am sorry for your loss, that should never happen. And your not the only one who has issues with USPS, there's actually a lot of people frustrated with the way they handle packages and there careless method of transporting. I'm glad there getting bad press.

Hit and miss with the post office. Berea, Oh great service chicks came in beautiful shape. I don't live there now but I had great service with chicks . Now I am afraid of ordering mail order birds new post office. Do not want to try it.

Or that they were set on a vent or something...
USPS sorting facilities have vents. Who knows if they were placed by there. I know in my plant, when it HOT outside and the machines running keeping the building inside a hot greenhouse. Since it not well insulated. It can get get hot easily or cold, They are so cheap to keep the building cool or warm during winter. Literally management keep the AC on where the temperature stays constant “70” but it feels A LOT like 85 degrees! If my cloths are drenched in my sweat, they are not keeping the AC on where it should be to keep everyone cool. I think they were kept in a hot area with no proper space to keep the box cool. Perhaps it was stored or sorted by a vent. Or close by the docks where hot air can go through.
