Dead hen- odd circumstances- predator or chicken issue?

Thanks for asking! No issues today but very nervously let them into their run.. but no free ranging for the time being. I wonder if perhaps my small white polish was hawk bait..?

Sounds to me she was sadly hawk bait. My neighbor had something of this manner happen a few months ago with his RIR roo. Their where three tiny puncture holes and the waddle and comb had been torn... I suspect this is what kinda happened to your hen. Sorry for your loss.

Goodness. Thank you for letting me know. I wonder why they do that? it'll help me be more aware either way. Is there a better way to protect them from hawks?
Thanks all for the help!

Sadly there is no "Great" way to protect and prevent hawk attacks but to supervise the chickens while they free range until you haven't seen or heard the hawk for a few days
