So my baby RIR's moved a bit on day 19, but now it is day 22 and no pipping. I listened to what people said and pipped (carefully) a small hole in the eggs. All I can see is what looks like a bit of the chicks, but it is not moving or making sounds. Dead or alive?

if you made a hole in the egg and the chick becomes dry inside it may no longer have the ability to "turn" within the egg and could die. Also the humidity and ventilation is very important in the last few days and even though the chick may develop to that point...could also "suffocate" at the very end..

Well, the chick died.

I decided to adopt. Sometimes all of my eggs turn out to be duds.
