Deaf Chicken?

I have one that behaves like this (still a pullet). She would cry in the brooder when she couldn't snuggle the bigger girls (she's a bantam). Then when we were transitioning them to be outside at times, she would cry when she was left alone or couldn't keep up with the other chicks (the yard was a big hill).

Now that they're in their coop and run with a flat space, she seems to do fine.

I think she has anxiety about being alone. Might be how yours is too.

Could very well be - definitely do a sound 'spook' test to be sure. I have an inlaw with a deaf rabbit; took them ages to figure that one out.

View attachment 1790248 Her eyes are bright and have no swelling or redness to them. She’s a full grown hen, a little over a year old. I’m going to try to get her to react to noise. Apart from being anxious when she cant see the other hens, she is perfectly healthy.
So I've got one that screams at me... She doesn't make the same sound as the other hens. Obviously has some kind of a problem. Her eyes are fine. She eats. She appears to be healthy. She lays good. She's only about 6 months old and she screams at me! LOL. I think she's deaf as well. Could be worse. Mine are contained in a pin and a run so I don't have to be worried about her being injured by anything other than the rest of my flock. And they all came together. So the fact that I finally got one that's deaf. All right. Could be worse
