Thank you, Fluffy, I'm getting there. I'm starting to wonder if this wasn't Covid. Doesn't matter as I went nowhere anyway but this "cold" sure took me for a loop! Nine days of a horrible chest cold.
Being sick is the pits! Hopefully you've turned the corner now Debbie. :hugs

OK sooo silkie peeps! I need your expertise. Ursula has this annoying habit of kicking all the straw/hay out of the nest box every day, because she tries to find morsels in it to eat. Problem is, it's the SAME hay. She's already test nibbled everything there is to test nibble. Problem number two, there's eggs in the damn hay. Problem number three, she's teaching the Cruella kids to do the same! Sooo, is it a universal silkie/silkie mix issue, or is this...girl...just very dumb

One reason we switched to pellets in the coop. In the temp coop I'm going to have to as well as they kick it all out and lay eggs on plywood anyway.

I haven't seen them picking in it, but they do wallow it all around and then manage to lay eggs directly into the wood and occasionally break them :th

Try taking it out and put pellets in there. They dig a little to make themselves comfy is all but it all stays right there!
