I do think that the mottling genes affect the beak/skin/foot color!! Honestly I love the black skin/beaks on silkies so that is one reason I had shied away from mottled and cuckoo in the past. And another reason I was confused about my mottles, because they all have black or partially black beaks and partially black feet. So I’m thinking maybe mine are splits and you’ve got the real thing!! Very interested in seeing how that baby grows out if you keep it.

Such cuties. Is that black one on the left one of the silkies? It's got a straight comb. I don't have any straight-combed chickens around here unless a hen ran across the road lol.

Thank you, Fluffy, I'm getting there. I'm starting to wonder if this wasn't Covid. Doesn't matter as I went nowhere anyway but this "cold" sure took me for a loop! Nine days of a horrible chest cold.
